Objectives

The aim of EduSpec's NMR module is to teach you how to interpret single pulse proton NMR spectra of simple organic molecules. You will learn about the four most important sources of information in such NMR spectra:

• The chemical shift
• The number of peaks
• The peak integrals
• The peak multiplicities

EduSpec offers you the possibility to practice the interpretation of these information sources, separately and together. Finally, you will learn to combine all the information and use it to deduce the structures of simple organic molecules. Providing a theoretical understanding of NMR spectroscopy (or other techniques, for that matter) is explicitly NOT an objective of EduSpec.
